Rikesh Shah joins Nitrous’ board of advisors.
We’re proud to announce that Rikesh Shah will be joining Nitrous’ board as an advisor.
Rikesh, Head of Commercial Innovation at Transport for London (TfL), has worked in urban mobility for the last 20 years and has championed the organisation’s award-winning market innovation activity. Under his leadership, the team has succeeded in engaging start-ups, corporates, academia, accelerators and venture capitalists to help TfL become world-renowned for its innovative practices.
Rikesh has helped TfL become famed globally for its fresh approach to solving urban challenges. Some of his initiatives include:
- TfL’s first Innovation Hub – bringing together world-class innovators to solve the organisation’s biggest challenges and then commercialize them
- TfL’s world-leading open data programme – With 17,000 registered users, 700 apps powered by TfL data used by 42% of Londoners which an independent review stated that it’s worth to London is £130m per annum.
- London RoadLab – an innovation accelerator helping to find solutions that could help traffic move more effectively during roadworks.
- Mayor’s Civic Innovation Challenge – a programme seeking start-ups to develop ways to reduce inequality, prevent climate change and support London’s ageing population.

Outside his work with TfL, Rikesh has been awarded for his work at the forefront of innovation with awards including Top 5 Asians in Tech for sustainability in the UK in 2020 from Diversity UK, Recognition for innovation in the public sector from Nesta and one of the top 100 digital thought leaders in the UK from Drum Digital.
